Spectacle - cannot find cropping tools
Previously Spectacle used the kImageAnnotator library for the annotation function, so when that library got cropping support Spectacle got it too. For better or worse the new UI no longer uses that library, so I'm guessing the Spectacle devs will have to add in cropping support manually now. No clue if there are plans for it unfortunately, but I assume if work gets started on it there will be an update on that bug report.

This week in KDE: New Spectacle – Adventures in Linux and KDE
It's available as a library (https://github.com/ksnip/kImageAnnotator), additionally you can use the --edit-existing flag with Spectacle to edit arbitrary existing images.

Spectacle 22.04.1-2 on Arch now supports cropping (plus a few other things)
That's just the last change that made it to 0.6.0, the actual difference is more like this.

When did Spectacle get an Annotate button!?
Cropping in Spectacle will only appear when kImageAnnotator 0.6.0 gets released, as noted in the bug report.

Lighter alternative to GIMP?
I actually just learned about Ksnip, because I first wanted to recommend you KDE Spectacle, but I noticed it didn't show a crop tool. I discovered Spectacle uses Ksnip's kImageAnnotator for editing and thus discovered Ksnip. Somehow Ksnip does show a crop button and other features that are not enabled in Spectacle. I think I like Spectacle more for quickly taking a screenshot, while Ksnip seems nice to have for a quick edit.

svt-av1 1.5.0-1 broke ffmpeg and ab-av1 -crf setting
Yep looks like ffmpeg package needs to be rebuilt against svt-av1 1.5.0. In the meantime you can checkout, build & re-install the ffmpeg pkgbuild locally to fix.

Is it possible to install gnome 3 on the latest version of arch Linux?
Download the PKGBUILDs from the archlinux svntogit trunk and use makepkg as you'd normally would I guess. Here's the PKGBUILD for gnome-shell v. 3.38.4 for example: https://github.com/archlinux/svntogit-packages/blob/e93ee10b663dedcebfd8c33fd53b82f642a0a0a8/trunk/PKGBUILD

Python 3.11 is in the repos now \o/
The old python PKGBUILD from the Arch repos is here, in case anyone wants to build it themselves under the python310 name (with additional minor modifications): https://github.com/archlinux/svntogit-packages/blob/855d73921bb8e86820a7731870de335c3c2fa236/trunk/PKGBUILD
- It appears GNOME is in the process of being updated
- GNOME 44 spotted in the repos
