Need To Generate 81 Character Seed From Ledger Seed Phrases (I used a Trinity wallet with Ledger long ago)
Can someone tell me an easy way to do this. I saw on Github how to run a script to do it but I'm not technical and I really don't know how to do that. Is there some non-techie user interface for that? Please note my USB ports on laptop don't work so I can't just have Firefly walk me through it and open my Ledger and it appears the Android version of Firefly does not accept the words.. you have to have the 81 character seed. Thank you for all help. Here are the GitHub pages that talk about the script: https://github.com/mlouielu/iota-mnemonic https://github.com/muXxer/recover-iota-seed-from-ledger-mnemonics

Old Iota Wallet Recovery Question
AFAIK the bip39 word-phrase was 24 words as seen in this recovery tool https://github.com/mlouielu/iota-mnemonic

Chrysalis Migration Community Questions
Your ledger seed is based on the 24-word phrase, so you'd need a converter similar to https://github.com/mlouielu/iota-mnemonic but based on the new ECDSA signature.

How to import 24 Word Seed?
You can literally use a free tool to convert your word phrase into a seed and enter it into a wallet https://github.com/mlouielu/iota-mnemonic If you think this is beyond your coding knowledge base, ask for help on discord in the #help channel and someone will likely be nice enough to walk you through (discord link can be found on the right of this sub).

How to access Ledger Nano S seeds outside of Trinity wallet?
You can usethis converter to convert your mnemonic phrase to your iota seed. Use it offline of course when you enter the seed, maybe on a raspberry pi. This will give you the seed of your wallet. Try to enter the seed on the trinity wallet. This is just an idea wich is probably not the easiest way, but you could even enter the seed on the mobile app and you wouldn’t require the ledger to recover your iotas.

Need help understading BIP39
Yes. BIP39 defines a check word to ensure the previous words are correct. You can read the spec here: https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0039.mediawiki

What happens if I lose my cold card device?
ColdCard follows the BIP-39 standard for encoding the wallet's seed as a series of 24 words (a.k.a. "seed menmonic", sometimes called a recovery phrase). If you followed the instructions you were given when initializing it and you've stored your seed mnemonic safely in the real world (not digitally where it can be more easily discovered), you're fine. In the event you lose or damage your ColdCard, you can initialize a new wallet--ANY wallet that follows the BIP-39 standard, which is pretty universal these days--and the wallet will regenerate the same private keysthat your original ColdCard did, in the same order.

Can the private key of a 24 word seed + passphrase be the same as of a different 24 word seed without passphrase?
Look-up "BIP32", "BIP39" and "BIP44", those will point you to documents describing precisely how seed phrases are converted into crypto keys.

is there a way to programmatically generate a wallet from a 12 word seed phrase that would give the same result in metamask?
i think bip39 is what you want to look up.
