Thinkpad X1 Fold gen1 - Linux - Update 2023
Touch on the fold is one of the reasons why I would want one. The issue on that is the Intel Precise Touch support on Linux. The work on that is detailed here: https://github.com/linux-surface/intel-precise-touch/issues/8

The foldable eagle has landed...
For the touchscreen you need the intel IPTS touch drivers made for the Surface devices, for the display just one kernel option and then you're mostly good

SP7 Multitouch and pen input issue
Hi there. Yeah, I have the same problem trying to update to the current branches, but I don't have the time to really dig in and figure out what's up. For now I've just reverted to the last versions that worked for me: I'm using the (deprecated) Quo branch, and this commit for intel-precise-touch.

Linux-surface kernel
In that case, it's new hardware and still unsupported :-( You might want to keep an eye on the GitHub issue tracking this; https://github.com/linux-surface/intel-precise-touch/issues/8

Surface Book 1 vs Surface Pro 7
Multi-touch and the pen still do not work on the SP7, and other Gen7 devices, but there is work being done on it. Touchscreen still works with single-touch.

Surface Pen on Ubuntu Help (SB3)
The awesome linux-surface team is working hard on it (you can follow their progress here if you're technically inclined), but its no small feat, so its hard to say when it will be supported and to what degree.

Updates on full functionality for SP7?
Well, I'm not a developer, but I am trying to keep somewhat up-to-date with the status of these things. From what I can tell, it looks like the camera should be working soon. At least there's been a lot of progress for everything earlier than the 7th gen devices, but I'm hoping the fix will work for the 7 too. See here. The pen looks to be stuck for the moment. It seems Microsoft/Intel changed things up in a hard-to-decipher way, so it's gonna be slow going unless someone from Intel gives them a hand. See here and here.

Can't get touchscreen to work on SP8
I followed the instructions on https://github.com/quo/ithc-linux and didn't get any error messages, but even after trying multiple times and restarting often, it still won't work. Any ideas?

Touchscreen touches recognized as dragging
I have a Surface Pro 8 running on the open source linux-surface kernel. I'm running GNOME 42.5 on Wayland, and the ithc + iptsd packages to get touch to work.

I Finally Found a Solid Debian Tablet: The Surface Go 2
> The biggest difficulty with a standard desktop GNU+Linux on a tablet is that most distributions are not optimized for easy tablet use - KDE Neon User Edition e.g. does not come with a virtual keyboard preinstalled.
Ubuntu 22 on a Lenovo X1 Fold gave me the OSK without installing anything - though the touchscreen was not supported by default, the driver is under work cf https://github.com/quo/ithc-linux

I don't use a surface but lurk on here occasionally, looks like there's starting to be touchscreen support for the SP7+ & SP8: https://github.com/quo/ithc-linux
