I also tried following the steps in linux-surface/ intel-precise-touch , but it went a lot over my head, i had a hard time even finding a guide for patching the kernel, let alone figuring it out on my own, if anyone has a guide or cares to shed some light on this process for me, i would be very thankful.

I managed to install the linux-surface kernel and i went to the feature matrix to see that there is experimental support for multitouch and pen. When i tried to follow the guide linux-surface/ iptsd i got stuck at

Hi there. Yeah, I have the same problem trying to update to the current branches, but I don't have the time to really dig in and figure out what's up. For now I've just reverted to the last versions that worked for me: I'm using the (deprecated) Quo branch, and this commit for intel-precise-touch.
