Adobe Illustrator on Steam Deck
I've been trying to install the Adobe programs (Illustrator, Photoshop and Premier pro) on steam deck. I have Adobe Illustrator CC 2019 v23.0.1 (.exe file) ready to install Illustrator, however when I try to open it through Bottles it doesn't seem to do anything. There's no error message and nothing pops up. I've tried using this link https://github.com/Gictorbit/illustratorCClinux I followed the steps, but I just got Konsole errors while putting in some of the commands. Has anyone been able to get this or something similar to work? Maybe I could run Bottles with dependencies, but I'm not sure which ones would work. If anyone has any information on this, I'd greatly appreciate the help.

Adobe never fails to be awful :|
It's funny because it was easier to get the Linux repack of illustrator setup in wine then try and install it on windows . https://github.com/Gictorbit/illustratorCClinux

I'm an absolute beginner wanting to ditch Windows. What should I know before diving in?
Photoshop can run pretty well on wine( i am assuming u will have wine installed coz u need it for gaming) visit photoshopcclinux for installing it. This method only works for photoshop and illustrator for other adobe products consider its linux alternatives. For MS office follow along this youtube video. These tips i shared are a bit advanced but if u know what u are doing u will manage to get it working. Good luck on ur switch to linux.

Photoshop CC v19 installer for Linux
The repo owner also owns Illustrator CC v17 repo for Linux[0]. Haven't played with either of these repos, but they seem promising.

Adobe Illustrator on the Deck?
Hi, I would like to use Adobe Illustrator on the Steam Deck for when I have it docked as a desktop. This user created an installer for it here: https://github.com/Gictorbit/illustratorCClinux I launched Konsole and pasted the commands in but it says I need wine installed. I tried to install wine with "sudo pacman -s wine" but I get a "keyring is not writeable". I also tried installing wine from the discover store but it's not detected by the installer. What should I do?

People complaining about Linux
I know one exists for Photoshop and Illustrator and they both even download the respective apps themselves
- Do you use cracked software?

Fuck Off Adobe
https://github.com/Gictorbit/illustratorCClinux They’re actually pretty decent if you don’t care about piracy and don’t need the newest version. It’s only photoshop and illustrator though.

Simulate an Ubuntu-like VM inside macOS
Multipass is pretty clutch for trivial VMs on MacOs for sure. I use it for a bunch of ssh jump boxes running vpns to different sites. The macOS build does not support custom images (lest not without [some truly insane hacks](https://github.com/canonical/multipass/issues/1260#issuecomm...) , which doesn’t really matter for what I use it for but it is kind of a bummer. If you need something with a little more grunt but don’t want to go full blown with writing your own QEMU tooling or fussing with something like UTM or Parallels, [quickemu](https://github.com/quickemu-project/quickemu) is a really nice qemu wrapper with sane defaults that can expose a whole lot of power if you need it.

Thinking of purchasing a 4080 laptop and replacing W11 with KDE plasma
Overall, don't be afraid to switch distro (use Ventoy, load a few ISOs just in case), try to make sure you have an easy way of backing up your stuff (be it with a separate /home partition, or like I do with storing everything important in a separate drive and then using symlink to make it 'appear' in their 'default' places), and you can always use VM in a pinch (consult this guide or use quickemu or gnome-boxes)

Wanting to ditch windows 10 in favor of linux
In case some things you do absolutely needs Windows, keep this guide for setting up VM in mind, or use quickemu's GUI.

DistroSea- Test drive Linux distros online
VM will be shutdown automatically when it's inactive for a while. I will eventually add more distros going forward. Most distro isos are downloaded using the quickget script from the wonderful quickemu project. You may directly contribute to the upstream project to get the distro added to DistroSea.
