I know that GNOME only allows integer scaling numbers to be set, and there are fixes like mutter-x11-scaling, by selecting large text in the accessibility options (which obviously only increases the text) or just switch to other desktop environments like KDE Plasma.

You might be interested to check out my project, Custom Desktop. It also focuses on delivering a vanilla GNOME experience, without snaps. It uses Firefox from the Linux Mint repository, and Chromium is also available. It's biggest strength is that it replaces the original ubuntu-desktop-minimal and ubuntu-desktop metapackages with custom ones, so the system does not fall apart every time a package is removed.

You can however use https://github.com/IceWreck/Gnome-DAV-Support-Shim which will emulate a local Nextcloud server using your CalDAV provider. It's a bit hackish but it works (I'm using it with a Radicale server) It also handles tasks in Endeavour
