  • Writing a new sensor 'driver' - how to test/debug??

Spent all day today trying to get the new sensor platform operational. Made the mistake of starting from the HX711 load sensor (an SPI device). It helped me understand how/what to code, but it wasn't as up-to-date as it could/should be. Found the example SPI sensor at https://github.com/thegroove/esphome-custom-component-examples/tree/master/custom_components/empty_spi_sensor and it provided everything I needed. The sensor platform is now operational, but the SPI data transfer from the chip into the ESP32 isn't working, just quite yet. That's a task for tomorrow. :)
