Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

Rust GUI Development?
GTK: I have little - no experience with GTK, and from what i have read it is cross-platform similar to wxWidgets, however is an emulated UI system similar to Qt. As i have no experience with it i am not sure how well supported this library is as far as it's Rust - bindings are concerned gtk-rs

gtk-rs: can't get window ID with command inside connect_show or connect_realize
In a gtk-rs application, I'm running a xdotool command to get the id of the application's window. I'm running the command in a connect_show closure (after the window has been shown):

My (challenging) experience building a window switcher for Ubuntu
To build the UI, I used gtk-rs. My experience with this library was quite pleasant; it was easy to use and there were a lot of examples. However, it isn't as widely used as, say, React, so it was difficult to find answer on Stack Overflow (I come from a JavaScript/Typescript background).

x11rs can't access window created with gtk-rs
I'm using x11rb to interact with a window created with gtk-rs. window_id is the ID of the window created with gtk-rs. window_id_2 is the ID of the window created with x11rb (for testing purposes).

What GUI libs are out there and good to use?
I haven't used it yet, but gtk-rs looks pretty good too. I've used GTK in general, just not the Rust bindings so far. The tutorials seem nice and GTK is a good UI toolkit overall.

gtk-rs: triggering code after the window has been shown
I'm using gtk-rs. I want to trigger some code after the window has been shown (has displayed on the screen):

Adding ListBoxRow to ListBox from inside a closure
I'm using gtk-rs to add ListBoxRow items to a ListBox. The items are successfully added if I do it outside of input.connect_changed, a closure. But nothing is added if I do it from inside input.connect_changed:

Who "owns" Rust ?

gtk-ks: Join the Effort to create GTK Bindings for Kotlin!
Out there there are already some open source projects trying to do this, but most of them are abandoned or in a very alpha stage. The most promising project so far seems to me git-kt. This project is trying to do something similar to what gtk-rs does for Rust, which is using GObject Introspection (GIR) files to generate Kotlin native bindings automatically.

What can rust do
For GUI applications, the story is mixed. There are several GUI frameworks in active development, but nothing as polished and battle-tested as Electron for TypeScript. There are bindings to GTK, but they're cumbersome to work with, and I wouldn't recommend it to a Rust newbie. There's also Tauri, which is a bit like Electron and lets you write the GUI in HTML/CSS/JS and the business logic in Rust.

Do Rust and Lua work well together?
Concerning GUI frameworks, the most common ones are druid, egui and iced. All three of them run native and on the Web.
-
What was the hardest coming from C++ to Rust?
Going to give a shoutout to druid. I've recently tried it with the Lapce editor and it's just so smooth, fast and works so well for a pre-alpha app.
-
What GUI libs are out there and good to use?
As iced and egui were difficult for me, i started with druid.
-
Rust GUI framework
There is Iced which is used by system76 in Pop!_OS, Druid [DISCONTINUED], GTK-rs, Relm, Azul and Tauri. Personally I would use Tauri for its speed using the OS's native web render, documentation of use with things such as Sveltekit and the ability to make UI's using JS, CSS and HTML. Tauri similarly to Electron whilst being far faster. But its up to personal preference really. There aren't any solid "go to" options at the moment.
-
What do people use for simple UI projects?
Druid should be good for most cases, it has a lot of built-in widget for the UI, you can even make a custom widget with a canvas-alike painting API.

Druid, a Rust-native UI toolkit, released v0.8 after two years of work by 80 contributors.
Druid, which is a Rust-native UI toolkit for building desktop applications targeting Windows/macOS/Linux/OpenBSD/FreeBSD, has a new version out - v0.8.

Ergonomic APIs for hard problems (RustLab 2022 keynote)
There's a memoize View node in the previous iteration of the Xilem prototype, but it hasn't made it in to the current branch yet. That sounds like what you're asking, but it's possible I'm missing something.

Dioxus: User interfaces that run anywhere
You can use GTK from Rust. But the Rust native ones aren't really there yet. [Iced](https://github.com/iced-rs/iced) which has been picked up by System76 and [Druid](https://github.com/linebender/druid) (and it's next gen version [Xilem](https://github.com/linebender/xilem)) are the ones to watch, along with Dioxus which is the main post here.
I'd expect there to be something useable by the end of 2023.
What are some alternatives?
iced - A cross-platform GUI library for Rust, inspired by Elm
tauri - Build smaller, faster, and more secure desktop applications with a web frontend.
egui - egui: an easy-to-use immediate mode GUI in Rust that runs on both web and native
fltk-rs - Rust bindings for the FLTK GUI library.
gtk - DEPRECATED, use https://github.com/gtk-rs/gtk3-rs repository instead!
gtk4-rs - Rust bindings of GTK 4
Azul - Desktop GUI Framework
Slint - Slint is a toolkit to efficiently develop fluid graphical user interfaces for any display: embedded devices and desktop applications. We support multiple programming languages, such as Rust, C++ or JavaScript. [Moved to: https://github.com/slint-ui/slint]
