Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

How do I setup up FoundryVTT on a dedicated server with custom subdomain via an apache2 virtual host, and LetsEncrypt SSL? The official guide is not helpful at all.
Also using the felddy/FoundryVTT, nginx reverse-proxy, and lets-encrypt companion Docker containers.
-
Might be a dumb question, but does foundry vtt self (or cloud) hosted have a fully functional web front end?
I already have docker set up for Nextcloud, so threw on this guy, hooking into my existing reverse proxy+letsencrypt https://hub.docker.com/r/felddy/foundryvtt

Foundry hosted on Azure keeps shutting down
What can you do 1. Set the default game world in Foundry configuration, that way you won't have to bother with selecting it after restart 2. The docker image has a healthcheck defined, but to my knowledge only Swarm makes use of it, every other orchestrator requires this to be defined separately. Look into azure docs to see how to define it. Have it test the whatever-is-your-url/api/status, compare the script here - this will auto restart the container if it hangs

Nginx reverse proxy issue?
I'll link to the github discussion I opened, rather than copy/pasting it all here: https://github.com/felddy/foundryvtt-docker/discussions/676

FoundryVTT and RED
I'm getting ready to run a campaign for some friends using Foundry. To do this I'm running Foundry in a Docker container (https://hub.docker.com/r/felddy/foundryvtt) running on a NUC at my house. I then use NAT to forward the required ports through my firewall so the other players can access it. It sounds more complex than it really is, and I'd be happy to answer any followup questions!

Bi-directional file sync
The use-case is as follows; I'm hosting Foundry Virtual Tabletop in a docker container on my NAS for a friend. He does all of his prep work using the copy of Foundry VTT on his personal computer, and then uploads to the NAS using Filebrowser, which I have also set up in a docker container, giving him only access to the Foundry VTT data directory and subdirectories.

Foundryvtt docker-compose wss issues
I am using this docker image: https://github.com/felddy/foundryvtt-docker I'm getting this error in the console `WebSocket connection to 'wss://foundry.****/socket.io/?session=***&EIO=4&transport=websocket' failed: WebSocket is closed before the connection is established.`

40 Containers & Counting...
I also run a minecraft server or two from time to time, and three separate instances of Foundry Virtual Tabletop for friends.
-
PSA for anyone using Oracle free tier to host Foundry
I used Mark Feldhousen's foundryvtt-docker docker image for the foundry server, using docker compose: https://github.com/felddy/foundryvtt-docker

Why I Like Obsidian
Tried Obsidian for a while, loved a lot about it, but....mmm.
Obsidian out of the box is a bit limited; plugins are great and add tons of features, but then you start hitting issues with plugin maintainers abandoning plugins you rely on, or needing to make a decision between three different plugins that all do the same thing slightly different. Depending on your use case and expectations that may not be a big deal, but I really missed not having what I personally saw as core features not being officially supported.
(Also, FWIW, the sync service is a bit pricy for what it is. I get that it's how they're trying to monetise it, but...I would have preferred another pricing model, even if the total cost was just as high.)
I've personally switched to Trilium Notes which I'm finding nicer. One element I particularly like is that it has first class suport for notes being able to exist at multiple places in a tree simultaneously. I know it's a very personal thing, but for me personally being able to file notes in multiple locations "clicks" in a way that tags didn't.

Show HN: Heynote – A Dedicated Scratchpad for Developers
I move between machines a lot and prefer an online tool; I'm self-hosting Trilium Notes https://github.com/zadam/trilium ; this looks a bit cleaner but without syncing (or server-side storage) it misses a bunch of potential use cases.
