euporie VS mgmt

Euporie is the most complex TUI application I have built:

It consists of a TUI editor (and interactive REPL) for Jupyter notebooks, and supports displaying rich output in the terminal (images, LaTeX, HTML, interactive widgets, etc.).

Currently it's part of euporie-notebook, but I'm planning on splitting it out and publishing the web-browser as an independent project.

I don't support audio yet, but it should be possible using DECPS escape sequences

If you use euporie [1], you can draw plots in a Jupyter notebook in the terminal using matotlib and friends, and have them displayed using terminal graphics.

Now with xontrib-jupyter you can use xonsh language in web-based Jupyter Notebook, JupyterLab and in terminal-based Euporie.

https://github.com/joouha/euporie in a a separate terminal works fine for me.

Why synchronize if you can stay in the terminal

I would like a rust lib to build a terminal UI like this: https://i.imgur.com/d5mo8ce.png - that's euporie (https://github.com/joouha/euporie) implemented Python using the prompt_toolkit(?) - it's very pretty and even mouse works...

I'm working on a TUI Jupyter Notebook editor, euporie, which allows you to run and edit Jupyter Notebooks in the terminal.

It's useful for editing and running notebooks on remote servers over SSH, or inside containers where setting up port forwarding is not possible or too difficult, or if you just like working in the terminal.

It's open-source, and I have no idea how I would go about monetizing it!

I've spent a lot of time recently working on euporie's HTML renderer, which I'm planning on using to make a new terminal web-browser.

I've looked briefly into this project before. Some ideas are similar to what I'm doing in https://github.com/purpleidea/mgmt/ but the really weird thing is that I have no idea who's behind this language. A person? A company? A small group? Are they anonymous for some reason or am I oblivious?

I don't generally believe in orchestrators (they miss the point, things are not single computers and neither is the world) and so I have that feedback here but also for:

> Airflow/Cadence/Temporal/Databuilderframework?

Which don't really think about modelling non-centralized things.

This of course doesn't mean they're not useful, it's just that they don't have what I believe is a good long-term value proposition.

The DAG concurrency stuff feels familiar to what I've been doing with our language, mcl. https://github.com/purpleidea/mgmt/

Our goal is NOT a general-purpose turing-complete language like this one is, but we do some amazing lock-free, DAG concurrency things to achieve the processing wins.

I don't think it's good news, but why is anyone surprised? Nobody wants to pay for open source.

Companies want it for free, and individuals don't have enough luxury time to be able to do it themselves.

Prove me wrong and help patch or fund https://github.com/purpleidea/mgmt/ and you'll have an even better replacement for terraform!

Eventually decided puppet wasn't a good enough tool to be able to autonomously deploy and continuously manage such clusters. So I started working on this https://github.com/purpleidea/mgmt/ project. Not quite MVP yet, but trying to get there soon. Got distracted along the way with having to work real jobs (Red Hat, Amazon) to pay bills.
