Evaluating Apache APISIX vs. Spring Cloud Gateway
In traditional mode, APISIX stores its configuration in etcd. APISIX offers a rich API to access and update the configuration, the Admin API. In standalone mode, the configuration is just plain YAML. It's the approach for GitOps practitioners: you'd store your configuration in a Git repo, watch it via your favorite tool (e.g., Argo CD or Tekton), and the latter would propagate the changes to APISIX nodes upon changes. APISIX reloads its configuration every second or so.

Extend XMPP Authorization
XMPP servers have the ability to use backend authenticators that can share existing auth infrastructure. This is commonly used for LDAP integration at corporations, for instance. The jackal XMPP server, since it is in Go and this is /r/golang, appears to have some support for this although it appears you'd have to go learn GRPC, the docs basically assume you know what you're doing with that already.
