baca: new TUI ebook reader build using the awesome Textual project
Hey there here is baca, epy's lovely sister. Built using the awesome textual project.

Epub Reader that allows syncing reading progress?
However, if you don't need all the bells and whistles of Foliate and Koreader, and you are willing to carry out some trials and errors, consider exploring other simpler options like epr/epy, in Linux you can use any terminal of your choice, whereas in Android probably you'll be better off using Termux (a simple pip install epr-reader should do).

Burgr – Books in Your Terminal
Sure, i use epy[1] and every month i d/l my books from amazon that i have bought, dedrm[2] through calibre and save the epubs to a folder. Its not a particularly arduous task.
When i want to read i have an alias setup along the lines of:
epy "$(fzf)"
its a nice interface ;-)
Now i don't often read full books in the terminal, BUT i do like being able to reference bits that i remember at a VERY quick speed. I recently was talking to somoene about biases we bring to statistics and could remember reading a great anecdote about it, using rga[3] i was able to bring up the passage VERY quickly in the terminal
Like most great cli tools, its about the workflow

Humble Bundle - O’Reilly Book Bundle - Is here again. A great collection.
I used to dislike ebooks until I started using epy. Reading on the command line made it more enjoyable to read some technical books, especially since it can vertically split alongside vim or a console.

Awesome CLI & TUI Applications Directory site
In the book section, I would recommend adding epy by the same author as epr. It’s an updated version with more features

Are there any free text-to-speech programs advanced enough to be able to be used as a fanfic audiobook generator?
From desktop open source TTS systems, I found mimic closest to being useful, and my preferred EPub reader (epy) can use it.

epub-reader?
Here is cli one, worth a try: https://github.com/wustho/epy

List of essential software I have been using. Most of these are commandline with few GUIs.
I would substitute dateutils for 17 and wordgrinder for 3 instead of pdd and abiword. Also, p7zip instead of 20, zip and unzip. For calendar (18), I like gcal which could also be used as 29, reminder. For a nice TUI ebook reader, I like epy.

What reader do you use to read ?
epy or Foliate on desktop. Really there are so many ways to read EPubs!

Update Megathread part 2
See the specific GitHub issue for AO3's new Cloudflare implementation here. Then also see the browser cache feature wiki page on GitHub here.
- Removing a lot of tags from a lot of fics

Can someone walk me through the easiest epub to kepub method for fanfiction (Ao3) like I'm five?
If you're using Calibre, there is fanficfare that can grab and update the files from Ao3. Can grab from Fanficfare-github. I also rec the Kobo touch extended and kobo utilities. I keep a epub and kepub copy as storage isn't an issue for me, but I believe there's a way to have it convert on transfer.

How to download fanfics from fanfiction.net?
So, I know about FanFicFare plugin and I know about the CloudFlare issue, pretty much blocking the plugin from working correctly. I have FanFicFare v4.24.0, so I'm trying to use the cache method. I followed the steps here, but what do I do now?

How to update your offline downloaded fanfiction collection?
Right, so there is a workaround but it's a pain in the ass. Not hard, just... tedious.

An Announcement for Lavender Brown: Hogwarts Champion Extraordinaire
Just PSA: it is on AO3, so Fanficfare works just fine.

What are your favorite fics found exclusively on FF.net?
https://github.com/JimmXinu/FanFicFare together with https://github.com/nsapa/fanfictionnet_ff_proxy … yeah, not for the weak-willed. Also, alias ff_cache=fanficfare -o use_browser_cache=true -o use_browser_cache_only=true works (with proper configuration).

4 months since I got this Kindle and I only have 6 books on here... The rest are all fanfiction lol
It works very well, and is continually maintained by the developer. If you use it with fanfiction.net, you have to set it up to use your browser cache (there are instructions here: https://github.com/JimmXinu/FanFicFare/wiki/BrowserCacheFeature). That reminds me, there is another app you could use called FanFictionDownloader (www.fanfictiondownloader.net), but it's not integrated with Calibre like FanfictionFare. Yet other options are the WebToEpub plugin. I use it in FireFox, but it might be available for other browsers. But for the most part FanFictionFare (FFF) is the best, and works with AO3 as well as fanfiction.net (and many others).

AO3 glitching?
Just download EPub (either with FanFicFare on a regular computer or via EPub download directly) and read it offline. There are number of EPub readers for all platforms and they usually work much more reliably than AO3/FFnet applications, your are not bound just to one server, and you gradually develop your own offline library of texts, so you won’t be ever that person who complains here that they went to the chapter 56 of a novel and it was taken down by the author.
What are some alternatives?
