hShop-Download caused SD-Card to corrupt
But yeah, custom-install can install games without a 3DS system, it just needs some files dumped from the console: https://github.com/ihaveamac/custom-install

I hacked my 3DS... now what?
Ah, I see. Unless someone can correct me, I've only seen methods that can install games one at a time. Fortunately, you can do a batch install in FBI and GodMode9 where they'll take all the .cia files in a directory and install each and every one with one command. As you can imagine, this will take time to complete depending on how many games you have lined up. A faster method would be to use a PC to install the games with a specific tool. The 3DS CPU and SD I/O speeds are very slow which is why installing games takes so long.
- Resident Evil - Revalations.3ds ... 4GB! File wont copy to SD Card.
- Hshop on PC

Downloading games from hshop is slow
Use custom install https://github.com/ihaveamac/custom-install Guides are on YouTube

Faster way to install games on 3ds?

Good/bad idea to homebrew a 2DS for a younger kid?
Yep, this is the github page and this is the tutorial that worked for me, because the github instructions are kinda confusing.

Downloads
Like u/Great_Tumbleweee71 said, using a PC is the only way. The fastest way I know is downloading on hshop on PC, and then using Custom Install to put the game on the SD card. Bypasses FBI and the need to have double the space for the game (CIA+installed game)

Monster hunter 3/4 dlc?
I personally recommend if you're pirating it to just download the extra DLC files and manually install them to the sd. If you want it to be 10x faster, use custom-install, it's a popular program that supports small or large multi-file installation for your 3DS. All you need to do is let the program run after downloading the cias, and then once the program says custom-install-finalize has been copied to the SD, you place it back into your 3DS and open up custom-install-finalize (Homebrew Launcher app) and it'll do the rest for you; once you return to the home screen your games will appear as if you just bought them. DLC of course won't, but still works the same way. I'm a huge fan of this program so I'm fine with going on a tangent, but it's legitimately 10x faster than using FBI for installs of especially larger files. Have fun!

Batch decryptor not working
This is the one I have been using (https://github.com/ihaveamac/3DS-rom-tools/wiki/SeedDB-list). Make sure to put it in the same folder as the decryptor.

I would appreciate some help. Read my comment
I use the custom-install program to install games, where you need to provide your own seeddb, so I downloaded one from custom-install's maker - https://github.com/ihaveamac/3DS-rom-tools/wiki/SeedDB-list

Documentation of the .cia file format and 3DS injection
For open-source tools, Project CTR includes ctrtool to extract many 3DS formats including CIA, and makerom to build an NCCH, CIA, or CCI file. It's a bit old so I'm not positive it'll work exactly, but there's a guide on extracting a CIA using ctrtool and 3dstool, then rebuilding it using makerom and 3dstool.

Ever wondered what it would be like to play Shadows of Valentia if every enemy had the Teleportation skill? No? Well, I did.
Basically, you would need a tool to unpack an FE15 3ds file, load the files into Paragon, edit the skill on everyone you want and then repack the edited files with the rest of the unedited files from the game, and play. If you're wondering how to unpack and repack 3ds files you may find this resource on github to be useful.
What are some alternatives?
FBI-Reloaded - Open source title manager for the 3DS with modifications for remote installation of large files.
Luma3DS - Nintendo 3DS "Custom Firmware"
faketik - Generates fake tickets to make missing titles re-appear on 3DS.
open_agb_firm - open_agb_firm is a bare metal app for running GBA homebrew/games using the 3DS builtin GBA hardware.
Guide_3DS - A complete guide to 3DS custom firmware, from stock to boot9strap.
Project_CTR
CartInstall - An uncreatively named (and now deprecated) GodMode9 fork for installing 3DS cartridge games directly to the SD
Universal-Updater - An easy to use app for installing and updating 3DS homebrew
custom-install - Experimental script to automate the process of a manual title install for Nintendo 3DS
