Is there a good and free CAN BUS software for demonstration?
CANalyzer is the standard software, but it’s far from free. I’ve never really come across people using free tools, though judging by this list there’s some FOSS CAN software.
- Looking for breakout sensors/IC that supports CAN protocol

You don't ever own an electric vehicle
>You're intentionally leaving out the fact that a greater and greater number of manufacturer/OEMs are making necessary tools to properly debug proprietary and locked behind contracts.
isn't that the way every industry intersecting with IT behaves, and isn't there always someone else fighting to open it up, so https://github.com/iDoka/awesome-canbus A curated list of awesome tools, hardware and resources for CAN bus
- How to access onboard computer?
What are some alternatives?
SavvyCAN - QT based cross platform canbus tool
ddt4all - OBD tool
VW_Flash - Flashing tools for VW AG control units over UDS. Compression, encryption, RSA bypass, and checksums are supported for Simos18.1/6/10, DQ250-MQB, DQ381-MQB, and Haldex4Motion-Gen5-MQB.
ELM327-emulator - ELM327 Emulator for testing software interfacing OBDII via ELM327 adapter supporting multi-ECU simulation
multithread-serial-logger - Simple multi-threaded logger with Qt5 GUI for embedded devices such as Arduino, ESP, STM32, etc, using standard UART.
pyobd - open source program for OBD2 car diagnostics
rpi-can-logger - Project to log CAN bus data from a PiCAN2 and a GPS module
arduino-mcp2515 - Arduino MCP2515 CAN interface library
python-can - The can package provides controller area network support for Python developers
arduino-canbus-monitor - Can bus monitoring tool based on arduino and can bus shield. Implements CAN ASCII/SLCAN protocol compatible with Lawicel CAN232/CANUSB. Can be used for monitoring low speed CAN (interior can bus of most cars, less than 500kbps). For higher speeds serial port can become a bottleneck in case data density is high.
arduino-canhacker - CanHacker (lawicel) CAN adapter on Arduino + MCP2515
