Alternative to VUP?
XR Animator might be what you're looking for if you're willing to record an entire video and not just an MP3 for the lipsync. Audio-only lipsync tends to be quite bad, though you can probably ask Butz to add it if you're not willing to compromise.

How the actual hell has nobody made a dedicated vtubing camera that can compete with the iPhone's true depth camera?

What tracker to use?
I use VseeFace to VNyan with iPhone X (IFacialMocap), if you want to have body and hand tracking you can use : https://github.com/Kariaro/VRigUnity but the hand/body tracking (webcam) use a lot of performance in CPU
