- I need to monitor current, and respond to current. Bought S40 but only responds to on/off. What can I use to trigger IfTTT by current?

The Nexus 7 was Googleโs only great tablet, and it has never tried to replace it
If you're stuck on the Sonoff Micro as you seem to be (they are pretty cool and cheap as chips so I get it) it runs off the eWeLink app but there's a Sonoff add-on for Home Assistant in HACS here https://github.com/AlexxIT/SonoffLAN that makes it work locally, but it does need to be added via the app first.

Any experience with Sonoff smart usb plug?
This is the HACS available integration with HA that I'm using: https://github.com/AlexxIT/SonoffLAN

Is it possible to make a dumb appliance smart using a WiFi power monitor with no-code/no-soldering?
You plug it in and set it up to go on/off whenever you want. That model comes with monitoring aka it can see how much current is going through it. Then you use something like https://github.com/AlexxIT/SonoffLAN with Home Assistant and setup a specific automation. e.g. if watts usage is > X, then do Y. yadda yadda.
- To those using sonoff switches and home assistant how are they ??

Sonoff Toys to try out in HA whilst I'm in quarantine
I can recommend these together with the sonoff zigbee bridge using the custom integration sonoffLAN https://github.com/AlexxIT/SonoffLAN.

Converting Ceiling Lights to Smart Lights
And for the node-red direct connection, I haven't tried that. I use AlexIT's SonoffLAN to connect between my Sonoff Basics and Minis to HassOS without connecting to the cloud.

ZBbridge, 3rd party bulb, scenes and google home
Using this thing https://github.com/AlexxIT/SonoffLAN I got it all working without tasmota! Well except that currently the zibgee bulb is only on/off but perhaps that can be sorted. So no need to flash anything in order to try it out at least.

Security cams
Frigate https://frigate.video/ and ZoneMinder https://zoneminder.com/ come to mind. Blue Iris https://blueirissoftware.com/ is not open source but is what I prefer to use for my PoE systems ($80/yr)

Ask HN: How have you engineered the shit out of your home's front entrance?
Engineering implies working within constraints. Most people in this realm only have to deal with the spouse acceptance factor as a limiter.
Went from openhab -> homeassistant -> Node-RED. Then sprinkle in MySensors, Frigate, and Double-Take, but not on just the entrance, go for the perimeter then defense in depth.

Frigate: Open-source network video recorder with real-time AI object detection
- https://github.com/blakeblackshear/frigate/discussions/7932#...
I have found my frigate+ model to be much more accurate and crazy good even at night. Will be curious how things change when it snows here more often, since I've not submitted any examples of winter at this house yet.

A PCIe Coral TPU Finally Works on Raspberry Pi 5
According to the author of that PR, they're using 10% of 1 NPU core on 3 cameras: https://github.com/blakeblackshear/frigate/pull/8382#issueco...
The bottleneck instead will probably be the video stream decoding speed, especially as the SoC's hardware decoder isn't being used yet.
