The Nexus 7 was Google’s only great tablet, and it has never tried to replace it
If you're stuck on the Sonoff Micro as you seem to be (they are pretty cool and cheap as chips so I get it) it runs off the eWeLink app but there's a Sonoff add-on for Home Assistant in HACS here https://github.com/AlexxIT/SonoffLAN that makes it work locally, but it does need to be added via the app first.

Any experience with Sonoff smart usb plug?
This is the HACS available integration with HA that I'm using: https://github.com/AlexxIT/SonoffLAN

Is it possible to make a dumb appliance smart using a WiFi power monitor with no-code/no-soldering?
You plug it in and set it up to go on/off whenever you want. That model comes with monitoring aka it can see how much current is going through it. Then you use something like https://github.com/AlexxIT/SonoffLAN with Home Assistant and setup a specific automation. e.g. if watts usage is > X, then do Y. yadda yadda.

Sonoff Toys to try out in HA whilst I'm in quarantine
I can recommend these together with the sonoff zigbee bridge using the custom integration sonoffLAN https://github.com/AlexxIT/SonoffLAN.

Converting Ceiling Lights to Smart Lights
And for the node-red direct connection, I haven't tried that. I use AlexIT's SonoffLAN to connect between my Sonoff Basics and Minis to HassOS without connecting to the cloud.

ZBbridge, 3rd party bulb, scenes and google home
Using this thing https://github.com/AlexxIT/SonoffLAN I got it all working without tasmota! Well except that currently the zibgee bulb is only on/off but perhaps that can be sorted. So no need to flash anything in order to try it out at least.

An example of HACS: Adaptive Lighting
Before implementing your integration, you should know about Home Assistant Community Store or HACS. HACS is a third-party integration store. If Home Assistant doesn't offer the necessary integration, there's a considerable chance somebody published it on HACS.

Thoughts, learnings and regrets after three years on Home Assistant
I have HACS[0] installed in my Docker image, I use it for exactly one integration and the initial setup seemed a little dodgy but it's been pain-free for a couple of years now.

MyQ now free? Possibly included with premium connectivity?
Yeah! So first, get HACS if you don’t already have it (https://hacs.xyz), then the custom Tesla integration (https://github.com/alandtse/tesla) - side note: you’ll need to be able to get a refresh token for your account (iOS app: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/auth-app-for-tesla/id1552058613)… once you have the integration setup, create an automation. It should trigger when your vehicle tracker enters home zone and you can set device > myQ to open. Lmk if you need more help or have questions

Natural Light setting is fickle - Lutron Aurora
Adaptive lighting is not a default for Home Assistant. It's an addon. You can install it through HACS (which is an addon itself) https://hacs.xyz/

How to access all of the things from a single point
Once you have that, you can also install a lot of additional services that would require separate docker containers from the Addon Store (like PiHole) or HACS, which is where you'll get all the unofficially supported integrations. Frigate is an option in the latter, so I don't think you need a separate PC application, unless it's just to view.

Alexa routines accessible in home assistant?
Yup! There's a community integration you can install called Alexa Media Player. The easiest way to install it is by using HACS.

This is why Linus says not to buy Cloud-based services
There's also an extended 'store' called HACS (Home Assistant Community Store) which basically has third-party, but still FOSS so you can audit the code, integrations which further expand. https://hacs.xyz/
