If you are wanting a VST that can run roms, checkout RetroPlug! (I am yet to try it, but I've heard it's good)

Newly downloaded plugin not showing in Reaper
Hi, me again! I recently learned about Little Sound Dj, and I'm excited to mess around with it. I downloaded the VST from here and added it to my VST folder. When I opened Reaper, I could not find the VST. I re-scanned my plugin folder and it still wasn't showing up.

LSDJ - Modded gameboy or Ambernik?
If you've got a gamepad, (or don't mind using the keyboard in an emulator) try this https://github.com/tommitytom/RetroPlug

"FL_Studio isn't good at emulating Gameboy hardware"
This is done by using the emulator sameboy, being wrapped into a VST, then integrated into FL. The wrapper is called retroplug, and was created by tommitytom on GitHub. https://github.com/tommitytom/RetroPlug. The plugin is meant to be used for LSDJ (a tracker that runs on Gameboy hardware) to be able to run in traditional DAW's. However, it's still a fully functioning emulator, meaning any .gb can be run on it, including Pokemon.

How to get into this in 2021?
Lastly, if you want to play in an emulator, I highly recommend RetroPlug. It is tailor-made for LSDJ and has a TON of awesome extra LSDJ-specific features.

Hi Huge Question! I'm looking to make my music live! I need Help!
One solution you might look into is the VST RetroPlug. It's a GB emulator in a VST, so you could load it into the DAW, boot up mGB on it, and then you can control that with a MIDI controller.

UVI "8-Bit Synth" collection of sounds created with Commodore 64, Game Boy, SID Station, Mod Machine and more for UVI Workstation/Falcon - Intro Price ($59) through 8 February
If you just want to do simple stuff, there are 2 good free options: YMCK Magical 8bit Plug, or if you want more authentic, RetroPlug (a VST gameboy emulator) with mGB as a ROM. If you just want to play basic notes/arpeggios controlled from your DAW these will do the job just fine.
- im a newbie and need help, yeah pretty generic aint it?

suggestions for hardware synths that make videogame/ chip tune sounds
My chiptune setup for years has been an arduinoboy connected to an original gameboy running an mGB cartridge hooked up to a MIDI keyboard/interface of some sort. Something like this using a keystep37 would give you a very portable, playable, and decently affordable chip tune setup with lots of modulation and some sequencing options!
- Quick question does anyone here have any experience flashing this ROM onto any GB Cartdridges? I’m attempting to make a Synth out of gameboys

My first full track, sequencing Elektron Model:Cycles and a Gameboy (DMG-01).
I'm using this device from catskull electronics to send midi to the DMG. The gameboy is running mGB.

My first time doing chiptune on actual hardware (DMG-01)
I got the Polyend Tracker for Christmas and am using it here to sequence a Gameboy via the arduinoboy from https://catskullelectronics.com/. The gameboy is running mGB. I'm also using an Elektron Model:Cycles to add some fm sounds.
