#6 - OpenTTD - Transport Tycoon Deluxe... with multiplayer.... it has the most Win98 Interface, but once you get past that... this is the best and most amazing free sim tycoon game you will ever find.

OpenTTD is awesome and comes up quite often if you search for "free alternative" in this sub.

OpenTTD is quite similar and free. (Free as in freedom and free as in beer.)

Liberal Crime Squad. Whether they become violent murderers is up to you. At least in some versions of the game, a pacifist run has actually been easier. (Alright to be fair the default is probably that you'll play them as violent murderers, but you have the option not to!)

There's also a mod called Terra Vitae Fork and it's more active, but I haven't played that. The original lcs doesn't have an active playerbase anymore, there's a wiki but it's outdated. I'm actually starting a new lcs game rn, so if u have gameplay questions i can try to answer. i last played it years ago so i don't remember much. I just went into a police station w/ my leather gang, two of them are now dead and the rest are in the hospital for 3 months. I stole a pickup truck and i'm thinking about recruiting prostitutes so they can make money for me

Liberal Crime Squad by the makers of Dwarf Fortress.

Liberal Crime Squad is a game made by Toady before Dwarf Fortress became his life. Where you run an activist/terrorist group in order to sway public opinion towards more liberal policies. Whether by publishing propaganda, or mass murder of conservatives. It's both simple and fairly detailed. Managing safehouses, different terrorist cells and hoping anyone captured doesn't rat you out. Prison breaks of important lieutenants etc. Eventually the opposition group the Conservative Crime Squad will pop up and do exactly what you are doing. But for the opposite cause.

if you're reading this, you like dwarf fortress, and are one of the people in the OP who are also on /r/GreenAndPleasant then you should hit up Liberal Crime Squad. it is intentionally janky, obtuse, and at times incoherent. but it's also the best DOS-based sectarian violence simulator I've ever played!
