How to get started in photogrammetry and 3d modeling of buildings.
If you are starting out, I recommend checking out WebODM. https://opendronemap.org/ the software is NOT super easy to use, but the community is very accepting of newcomers asking questions

Photogrammetry on Commercial Flights (2021)
https://github.com/OpenDroneMap/ODM
You take a drone, point the camera mostly down (a narrow angle, not straight down), take photos of land, with some overlap, preferably from different angles, load the software, and it creates an ortophoto, 3d model, height map, all georeferenced
- Budget friendly mapping with Air 2S
- I am looking for an open source Software were I can creat a 2d map or picture from my drone pictures
-
3d scanning large areas
If you have a drone there is https://opendronemap.org/

What are some best practices for top-down panoramas?
Its not really considered a panorama, I think you might want something like this https://opendronemap.org/
-
3D Mapping?
You can run https://opendronemap.org/ on your own computer and get a 3d object, but the technical learning curve is a bit steep.

Need stitching software
You could do this through webodm. www.opendronemap.org
Blender-Addon-Photogrammetry-Importer

How can I add multiple reference images with varying perspectives to model off of? (Best described as manual photogrammetry, details and exampels below)
However, traditional methods (Like these photogrammetry addons: https://github.com/SBCV/Blender-Addon-Photogrammetry-Importer, https://www.blendermarket.com/products/pcv ) haven’t worked, due to the reference images these being varying quality screenshots, rather than actual uniform photos. I had the idea of somehow using photogrammetry software to align these images (Creating a point cloud), and importing the aligned files into Blender, but that hasn’t been successful.
What are some alternatives?
Meshroom - 3D Reconstruction Software
fSpy-Blender - Official fSpy importer for Blender
WebODM - User-friendly, commercial-grade software for processing aerial imagery. 🛩
OpenMVG (open Multiple View Geometry) - open Multiple View Geometry library. Basis for 3D computer vision and Structure from Motion.
commotion - Blender add-on for motion graphics
google-maps-at-88-mph - Google Maps keeps old satellite imagery around for a while – this tool collects what's available for a user-specified region in the form of a GIF.
Covid19Canada - Epidemiological Data from the COVID-19 Epidemic in Canada
blender-xray - STALKER (aka xray-engine) import/export plugin for Blender 3D
ifcclouds - convert ifc files to pointclouds
flight_planner - QGIS plugin for planning photogrammetric flights. Output: projection center layer (with attribute table containing parameters of Exterior Orientation) and size of images at average height of the terrain. With flight assessment tools you can get: real coverage of photos, logical sum of overlapping photos, GSD map.
