How to get started in photogrammetry and 3d modeling of buildings.
If you are starting out, I recommend checking out WebODM. https://opendronemap.org/ the software is NOT super easy to use, but the community is very accepting of newcomers asking questions

Photogrammetry on Commercial Flights (2021)
https://github.com/OpenDroneMap/ODM
You take a drone, point the camera mostly down (a narrow angle, not straight down), take photos of land, with some overlap, preferably from different angles, load the software, and it creates an ortophoto, 3d model, height map, all georeferenced
- Budget friendly mapping with Air 2S
- I am looking for an open source Software were I can creat a 2d map or picture from my drone pictures

3d scanning large areas

What are some best practices for top-down panoramas?
Its not really considered a panorama, I think you might want something like this https://opendronemap.org/
-
3D Mapping?
You can run https://opendronemap.org/ on your own computer and get a 3d object, but the technical learning curve is a bit steep.

The Empire State Building looks... interesting... in the 45-degree imagery on Google Maps
I've recently written a tool, Google Maps at 88 mph (the name's a reference) that collects all available imagery versions for a given area in the form of a GIF. In the last week, I've extended it to handle the 45-degree imagery (looking at cities at an oblique angle) available via an API.
