Compactor shaved 30% off my DCS install - 80GB instead of 114GB.
  • File compression using ‘CompactGUI’? | 2021-10-16
That's simply not true. I use compact.exe to compress all my games, its NTFS' built-in seamless compression. If you're going to give advice to someone at least make sure you know WTF you are talking about. u/Yes_This_Is_A_User use this one it's a nicer UI.

  • how bad is it to play games of internal SSD with linux OS runnig of USB
You can free up a considerable amount of space in Windows by deleting junk files and old windows updates. Run cleanmgr as administrator first (tick all the boxes), reboot and then download and run ccleaner. Further to that, you can seriously free up a ton of space by compressing your games library and program files folders - you can use Compactor for this.

Compactor (GUI for built-in win 10 transparent compression) works really well for games, often getting 0.30x-0.65x compression ratios, game updates only decompress and patch what they need and then you just have to rerun the tool to recompress them. depending on your CPU, some games even load faster.

We're using Rust for a domain-specific search engine. When I first learned Rust some years ago my first thought was that this language is perfect for heavy text processing. IMO, &str is that single killer feature that got me sold :) The search engine that we're building is based on

What we store on S3 is a regular tantivy index and another tiny data structure that we call "turbo index", which makes queries faster on object storages. For this demo, the tantivy indexes are fairly large and we issue HTTP Range requests against them.
