  • Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy "We wanted to give you an update on the final size of the PC version of the game, which will not be 150 GB. The team is in the last stages of optimizing the final game and we can confirm the file size will be approximately 80 GB at launch."

Compactor shaved 30% off my DCS install - 80GB instead of 114GB.
  • File compression using ‘CompactGUI’?
    reddit.com/r/ARK | 2021-10-16
That's simply not true. I use compact.exe to compress all my games, its NTFS' built-in seamless compression. If you're going to give advice to someone at least make sure you know WTF you are talking about. u/Yes_This_Is_A_User use this one it's a nicer UI.

Hey, i’ve used a program called Freaky/Compacter, https://github.com/Freaky/Compactor, it worked really well for me, got 10gbps off cs go, but it doesn’t work with all games, on gta i got around 800mbps, you should give it a try, it’s a life saver!
  • how bad is it to play games of internal SSD with linux OS runnig of USB
You can free up a considerable amount of space in Windows by deleting junk files and old windows updates. Run cleanmgr as administrator first (tick all the boxes), reboot and then download and run ccleaner. Further to that, you can seriously free up a ton of space by compressing your games library and program files folders - you can use Compactor for this.

The tool in the image is Compactor, a GUI front end to the Windows compact.exe built-in tool to utilise NTFS filesystem compression.

Compactor (GUI for built-in win 10 transparent compression) works really well for games, often getting 0.30x-0.65x compression ratios, game updates only decompress and patch what they need and then you just have to rerun the tool to recompress them. depending on your CPU, some games even load faster.

  • Recommended terminal emulator for swaywm?
    reddit.com/r/swaywm | 2021-10-18
Yes, alacritty is pretty heavy-handed with CPU. And theres nothing like having your battery drain faster the more terminals you have open to make you feel productive. https://github.com/alacritty/alacritty/issues/3108
  • YTFZF: How do I make the thumbnails less pixelated ?
Issue is still open, so sixel isn't supported by Alacritty yet.
  • How do I get rid of the cursor?
    reddit.com/r/fishshell | 2021-10-16
Setting this in fish doesn't work. You need to set it in your terminal - see the alacritty example config file. Maybe there's something in there - I see a "HideWhenTyping" setting that might work for you - or you'll have to ask the alacritty people to implement it.

What's wrong with https://github.com/swaywm/sway/blob/master/config.in, https://github.com/alacritty/alacritty/blob/master/alacritty.yml and similar, which were most likely packaged by your distribution and they are now somewhere in your system (I would start to look for them in /etc)?

  • Why is Vim using some colors I have not defined anywhere?
    reddit.com/r/vim | 2021-10-07
If I just do the first step (env variable), will that cause any problems? I think it kinda has to do with this issue after reading your comments.
  • What is the best terminal for Neovim in Ubuntu?
    reddit.com/r/neovim | 2021-10-07
I'm using lxterminal until alacritty adds daemon mode. lxterminal has no ligatures, but is very light especially considering when multiple instances of it are launched.
  • Why Rust?
    reddit.com/r/rust | 2021-10-03
Rust is being used for a lot of different use cases, but I'd say the two most notable use cases are applications (CLI and GUI) and server software. Firefox while stile being mostly written in C++ includes a lot of Rust code. Some important components of AWS (Lambda and Fargate) are based on Firecracker, which is written in Rust. Popular CLI tools include Ripgrep (which is included as a part of Visual Studio Code) and Starship, which you can run in the popular terminal Alacritty.
