Automatic enabling HDR
I've just discovered https://github.com/Codectory/AutoActions which detects when a user-defined process starts and can toggle HDR on, then back off again when it exits. I've gone through the list at https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/List_of_games_that_support_high_dynamic_range_display_(HDR)) to add entries for all the HDR-capable titles that I have installed.

PSA: Playnite Launcher has a "HDR Mode" per game!
For anyone with any of the myriad of HDR monitors that prefers to leave desktop mode in SDR RGB, I just discovered that the excellent Playnite game launcher has a feature where you can enable HDR on a per-game basis. Simply tick the "Enable HDR support" option under "Advanced" tab for the settings of the games that you want HDR turned on for. I was previously using the now-abandoned AutoActions for this, so glad to see there's an alternative in a tool I already use.

How to auto switch to HDR in Windows 11?
You can use third party programs like https://github.com/Codectory/AutoActions which can automatically enable HDR first when you launch a game and automatically disable HDR when you close the game.

Picked up a neo g9. Do I need to switch to hdmi over dp?
If your gpu supports HDMI 2.1 it will be better for bandwidth. As for HDR, while windows is getting better its still not great for desktop usage IMO. I like to use this tool here: https://github.com/Codectory/AutoActions/releases/tag/1.9.19.

HDR in game with windows SDR
There's an app called AutoActions which will allow you to automatically enable HDR on a per app basis which works really well for me. Unfortunately the author is no longer maintaining it, so hopefully nothing breaks!

Gamestream still works on my PC, should I move to Sunshine?
I don't have much to add, except that if you play on more than one device, adding gamestream launchpad commands for Playnite to sunshine as programs can also give you easy access to custom resolutions and all your games if you also play on devices like a Steam Deck (720p), ROG Ally(1080p), or an iPad (weird 1600p).

Here's a quick demo of the Game Pass streaming companion utility I've been working on, called Gemini Stream. It helps create a smooth, native feeling experience for streaming Game Pass games from your desktop PC to the Steam Deck
Have you heard of Gamestream Launchpad? It does this through GOG or Playnite.

Playnite resetting when launched from a CMD window
I'm using a program called Gamestream Launchpad (GSLP) to open playnite from the moonlight client on steam deck. But I'm having an issue where when GSLP (which launches as a cmd window) launches playnite its somehow causing playnite to look for the library in the appdata folder (which doesn't exist) so it builds one and resets the library. I use a portable installation so the library folder and all the configs are in the directory of playnite already.

Setup Sunshine and whenever I connect to my pc it changes my resolution to 1080p and my scripts to change my resolution don't work?
