We are making Gladys Assistant ( https://gladysassistant.com/ ), an open-source smart home software.
It's less "techy" than HA (no YAML files, no CLI), and UI first.
We have way less integrations for now, but are working hard on it.
Don't hesitate to try it and make us some feedback.
You could potentially use the requisite Shelly for your use case and install this firmware on it to expose it to HomeKit as a lock

Really neat how easy IKEA products data can be gleaned, especially thanks to the online community.
I wanted to add a screen to the VINDRIKTNING[0] air quality sensor, and thanks to an existing project[1] I was able get it working[2].

I bought a [Kasa Smart Plug](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08LN3C7WK). It has an API for reporting energy usage. Luckily there was already a [library](https://github.com/python-kasa/python-kasa) for calling this API. I wrote a small console app that checks energy usage and when I detect a drop, I know that the dryer is done.
This is my second attempt at solving this problem. In the first incarnation, I attempted to do audio recognition for the sound that the dryer makes when its done, but I just couldn't get it to work well. The sound was too short to generate a good signature.
Following this guide on the repo, I am running into this warning: [deCONZ] warning: not a deCONZ gateway
This should be the last release of OpenHAB for 4.4. In theory, it might be possible to revert the bump to Android 5 as it seems to just be because OkHTTP dropped it. But this old release can be a sort of band aid solution for now.
