  • Honestly, is Go useful for anything but microservices?
    5 projects | reddit.com/r/golang | 20 Oct 2021
It can be even used to create full desktop applications. Look at Wails and Gio for some front end examples. I originally started with Wails, but I think I am going to transition over to Gio since that gives me finer detailed control all within the Go language (and not using a Web frontend with a wrapper)

  • Is there is good GUI for Golang ?
    18 projects | reddit.com/r/golang | 12 Aug 2021
Webview is especially nice if you also do web development. There is also https://wails.app/ which builds on Webview but is more like a framework for building apps. I didn't test Wails, tough. I found the simplicity of Webview alone more appealing.
  • Build a desktop app with Wails & Vue

Hi everyone! In this post I want to show how to quickly setup a desktop app using this amazing Go library Wails.

  • Which GUI platform and why?
    11 projects | reddit.com/r/golang | 22 Jul 2021
Id suggest Wails if you want a standalone window or directly embed any fronted framework with go:embed into the binary. If browser tab is good enough. Svelte works very well for me. Nothing beats html/css/js in terms of gui design in the go world imho...

  • Desktop applications discussion
    11 projects | reddit.com/r/golang | 28 Apr 2021
Hey, I've fell in love with Go and wondered if it's a good idea to program a desktop application in a cross-platform Electron like framework. I've currently found a few - guark and wails.
  • Clojure GUI or front-end - what are the options?
    6 projects | reddit.com/r/Clojure | 26 Apr 2021
Tauri[0] seems to be working with Clojurescript too, but backend would be Rust Another similar options is Wails [1] but backend would be Go. These projects work similar to Electron but instead of bundling Chrome they use host OS's webview. To go full lisp, maybe something similar can be possible with Janet + Cljs too. • Show HN: I built a tool to generate triangulated art from images
    11 projects | news.ycombinator.com | 21 Apr 2021
Somewhat of a tangent: this project's GUI was built using Wails [1]. According to their docs, "The traditional method of providing web interfaces to Go programs is via a built-in web server." I'm not a Go developer so I'm hoping someone more familiar can comment on this. Are all Go GUIs basically Electron-lite apps?

  • Building a Configuration Generator for Mikrotiks Using Wails and React
    4 projects | dev.to | 15 Apr 2021
Before attempting to build a solution in "Wails," I created a GUI using Fyne. Fyne was easy to build with, and I could make all of the desktop components using Go. Unfortunately, The legacy laptops I have to support don't have a recent graphics driver that would work with OpenGL, so I had to find another solution. Wails is that solution. Wails is a cross-platform desktop application framework that uses a web-view and web technologies to create a User Interface (UI). Now I can use React, the most popular framework for building UIs, and not rely on Go's fledgling GUI support. The fact that Wails uses mshtml, a win32 API that hasn't seen an update since Internet Explorer version 11 (IE11), was a feature in my case.
  • Native GUI framework for golang?
    6 projects | reddit.com/r/golang | 3 Apr 2021
Haven’t found a GUI that can compete with something like Angular, but wails is pretty cool if you go the web framework route and want to avoid Electron. I’m working on an Electron/Angular app and Go is so far excellent for a backend language.
  • UI libraries/framework in pure Go to make an app
    6 projects | reddit.com/r/golang | 9 Mar 2021
Check out wails. It's an electron-like but with a go backend.
  • Desktop application as running on a port web app
    2 projects | reddit.com/r/golang | 22 Feb 2021
There's also https://wails.app that does pretty much what you suggest, similar to electron
