OpenStreetMap's software ecosystem and tools
While OpenStreetMap does not maintain any first-party routing tools, its website features OSRM, GraphHopper, and Valhalla. Additional routing software can be found on the OSM wiki's Routing page.

Reverse Geocoding Is Hard
You can self-host or run locally Valhalla (https://github.com/valhalla/valhalla), reading in data from OSM as a starting point.
(For my purposes, I went with local running, generating walking-distance isochrones across pretty much well the entire UK)

A map that warps to show travel time instead of distance
Does anybody have any recommendations on self-hosted ways to create isochrone maps? I've been looking at OpenRouteService, Valhalla, and OpenTripPlanner, but I'm finding it difficult to compare them. Don't seem to be many "experience reports" online.
