  • Asus X205 with Xubuntu

I bought the Asus X205TA the year it came out and have been pretty happy with it until recently. I'm not sure if the Windows 10 changes have caused it to be slower, or just the fact that it only has 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. But, I was really hopeful to install Linux, but since this was new, there wasn't much support. Seems like all of that has improved to the point where I can install Xubuntu on this machine with barely any extra configuration. I did have to work a bit to get the onboard Bluetooth working, but after a bit of digging, it seems to work flawlessly. Just wanted to post a positive experience with Xubuntu as I've used this before on an old Dell D630 with no issues at all. The poor X205 can still be sluggish at times, but overall it's a decent little machine for browsing, very light gaming and general use. The fact that it has no moving parts, not even a fan is one of the best features. The X205 also felt like a perfect fit for a lightweight Linux like Xubuntu and I was right.
  • Looking for the Ubuntu iso for baytrail tablets.
    1 project | /r/linuxquestions | 3 Jun 2021
It's not that easy unfortunately. Baytrail Tablet with Atom processor use indeed 64bit architechture. The BIOS though is 32bit. Most Ubuntu-based distros will not run out-of-the-box. You need to install 32bit GRUB on your desired iso. I used a respin script from linuxium.com in the past with success. It seems like it haven't receive any updates since 2017 so it might not work with recent releases. But it's easy to use, defenitely give it a shot. Link
  • What can I do with my old computer?

I had a Lenovo IdeaCenter Stick 300 mini-PC with an Atom Z3735F CPU (64 bit CPU with only 32 bit bootloader capability), I installed Ubuntu 19.04 64 bit thanks to Linuxium's solution 'isorespin.sh'

FWIW, this is my first time ever seeing a BIOS/UEFI screen for one of these, but judging by the processor, I'm guessing you may need to use a "respun" Linux ISO made with isorespin.
