how can i get 3column layout i3

However it is a "static" wm which means, unlike "dynamic" wms, you can't, automatically arrange windows in predefined layouts. But you can configure it to do it (just found https://github.com/eliep/i3-layouts).

Dynamic tiling WM with easier config like i3?
You can make i3 behave like a dynamic tiler using scripts. i3-layouts has worked well for me.

People who uses i3 (or any wm) do you use only one monitor, or you have a multiple monitors setup?
I started using https://github.com/eliep/i3-layouts for auto tiling, but switched to using tabbed layout most of the time.

The vstack layout of i3-layouts does what you want automatically, or you can just ask manually for a vertical split.

https://github.com/eliep/i3-layouts it's a good start point, if you know python programming you can make a fork, write the code and offer a pull request for them. Otherwise, you can register a "feature request" on the issues page, and wait for some dev to implement it.

how to open windows in spiral in i3-gaps?
im trying to get my windows to open in a spiral pattern in i3-gaps. i downloaded this script from github [https://github.com/eliep/i3-layouts/], but it doesnt seem to work. at one point i restarted my machine and it worked briefly, but now its stopped and idk how to fix it. my windows just open side by side.
