  • How do you «fix» your sleeping patterns?
    Sleepytime tea. Lots of people having issues like this. I suspect people might have had a mild delayed sleep phase disorder and the morning commute kept it in check. Roughly what I’m doing for my DSPD. Probably check with a doctor or pharmacist before trying the light box or melatonin (especially if you have eye conditions or other health conditions): Immediately after waking up Get sunlight for 30-60 minutes. You could also try using a light box as the sun, just keep it in your peripheral vision at ~3-6 ft away while you do other stuff but don’t stare into it. 4 hours before bedtime (eg 8pm) Optionally, 0.3mg of melatonin. (study) 2 hours before bedtime (eg 10pm) Avoid any “bright white” (~5600K color temperature) or fluorescent light. Replace them with “warm white” (~2600K color temperature) lights. Use night shift and dark mode on all computers, tablets, and phones. Install the Dark Reader extension on your web browser. Being familiar with sleep hygiene is good too.

    I have stopped waiting for website authors to figure out how to make a dark theme. I just have my user agent do it with

    Like ad blockers, sometimes you have to adjust it, but it usually Just Works. The main innovation from this is that my display has much improved contrast, because I can set the brightness for text on a black background, instead of setting the brightness for an entire screen of white. It is amazing how good a screen looks when it's not running at 1% brightness. (Just don't open a non dark mode app at night, or you won't be sleeping for a week.) | 2021-04-08

    And for $4.99 Safari user. 30% paid to Apple and 70% for developer to recoup their $99/year cost.

  • Does the Dark Reader addon contact third-party domains? | 2021-04-08
    Can this easily be checked from the source code? | 2021-04-08
    I'm not saying so, only asked to confirm. I know that the rulesets are fetched from the addon website or from Github. The website has a Honey) affiliate banner and I wonder if any CDNs are used to host potentially injected styles or some fonts, for instance.
  • Understanding dark reader in qutebrowser
    // ==UserScript== // @name Dark Reader (Unofficial) // @icon // @namespace DarkReader // @description Inverts the brightness of pages to reduce eye strain // @version 4.7.15 // @author // @homepageURL | // @run-at document-end // @grant none // @include http* // @require // @noframes // ==/UserScript== DarkReader.enable({ brightness: 80, contrast: 60, sepia: 0 });
    What about other sites? I think this solution is "advertised" as not being compatible with every site, but it should work on a number of them. For example, this github issue shows that it works on github.

    I use as an extension to chrome. Its a good site that doesn't collect and sell your browsing info like over extensions.
