  • Dwarf Fortress’ graphical upgrade provides a new way into a wildly wonky game

It's a bit annoying to setup initially. Caffe is the default runner for Bottles and plays more games out of the box than any other runner I've tested. However I hate the Bottles interface so I downloaded the Caffe runner separately.

Then you can drop that into the default folder in Lutris and choose it as the runner. Lutris also integrates with Steam so it'll see your entire steam library and you can choose a different wine runner and wine options on a per-game basis.

caffe Basically just another runner that uses wine and proton but it's mostly only available on bottles which makes a wine environment and you can play games and run windows apps kinda like lutris.

  • How can I speed up the Shader Loading Process?
    1 project | /r/linux_gaming | 11 Oct 2022
0 I'm running an AMD Ryzen 2700x, 32 GB of RAM at 2866 MHz, and an AMD RX 6600 XT. Overwatch 2 is being loaded through Bottles, using caffe-7.18 as the wine build.
  • Overwatch 2 crashing in lutris - Fix
    1 project | /r/linux_gaming | 10 Oct 2022
Changed it from Lutris 7-2-2 to >>>>> caffe-7.18 which I downloaded here: https://github.com/bottlesdevs/wine/releases/tag/caffe-7.18 and EXTRACTED the contents into this directory : ~/.local/share/lutris/runners/wine/ and then restarted Lutris and opened up Overwatch 2 again. The game stopped crashing after this. I'm not sure if I could have just used protonup-qt to do this, but I do know that other versions of wine are available in that app to do this an easier way.
  • Caffe runner issues (OW2)
    3 projects | /r/linux_gaming | 9 Oct 2022
As most of you know OW2 has an inevitable "freeze" that occurs after a few mintues of playing it - thus people have been using Caffe 7.18 as a temporary solution.

  • Overwatch 2 works Day 1 on SteamOS! (thanks Lutris flatpak)
    1 project | /r/SteamDeck | 4 Oct 2022
Credit to u/Feyko for this one: you'll want to switch the "runner" Lutris uses with https://github.com/bottlesdevs/wine/releases/download/caffe-7.18/caffe-7.18-x86_64.tar.xz Extract the archive as it's own folder to "home/.var/app/net.lutris.Lutris/data/lutris/runners/wine" next to the others (if you cant see this folder, enable hidden files/folders with CTRL+H. Create the folders if they don't already exist. ) Credit to u/Existing_Mango7894 for the above Restart Lutris (close/open)
