How to downgrade an iPhone 4 to ios 4/5/6/7
Grab a modern mac, connect your iPhone 4, grab your ipsw from http://ipsw.me, open terminal, and type in "git clone https://github.com/parrotgeek1/Pluvia.git && cd Pluvia". Copy your IPSW to the Pluvia directory, should be in your user folder. Type in "./make_ipsw.sh jailbreak" replacing "" with the file name of your IPSW, and if you dont want to jailbreak, remove jailbreak. Wait for it to be done, and put your iphone 4 into DFU mode,

[question] hi. Anybody have idea how to downgade a iphone 4 to ios6? I tried 3u but i get error at line 5342.
If you're using a standard ipsw it won't work because iOS 6 is not signed for iPhone 4. However if your iPhone is an iPhone3,1, you can use Pluvia here which takes advantage of an iBoot exploit.

[update] Successfully downgraded and jailbreak my iPhone 4 from iOS 7.2.1 to iOS 6.1.3 and It works much faster compared to iOS 7.2.1. Had this phone for 11 years kept it in storage. Biggest regret is I updated it a few years ago from iOS 5 to iOS 7. But I'm satisfied right now.
with tools such as Pluvia or Someiyoshino, if your iPhone is old enough you can even run iOS 4. here’s Pluvia https://github.com/parrotgeek1/Pluvia

iPhone 4 IOS 7.1.2 need help [question]
My recommendation would be to downgrade the OS to 6.1.3 as a ton of tweaks and jailbreaks that work flawlessly were made for it. You can use Pluvia https://github.com/parrotgeek1/Pluvia to downgrade and jailbreak at the same time (it is really complicated compared to other jailbreaks and it only works on Mac, so I hope you have a nice friend with one). Basically you go to IPSW.me , go to iPhone, then iPhone 4 (GSM (NOT GSM 2012)), then download the one that says 6.1.3 (it doesn’t matter that it says it can’t be restored, as we will patch it), (when I put something in brackets [], don’t type what it says in the brackets, but follow what I say in them) open terminal, type cd [drag you Pluvia main folder into the window], then type sudo ./make_ipsw.sh [drag your 6.1.3 IPSW] jailbreak, wait for it to finish (your friend will need to type in some passwords). Then plug in the iPhone. Finally type in sudo ./restore.sh [drag the file that’s called 6.1.3 patched or something like that]

[Discussion] Fixing FaceTime on iOS 6
Pluvia is a tool for downgrading the iPhone 4 to any iOS version it can run using an exploit called De Rebus Antiquis which affects the iOS 7 iBoot. There is a special version of this tool for generating an "iOS 6.1.6" IPSW. This means FaceTime is fixed and able to be used if you use this version of Pluvia to downgrade your iPhone 4.

iPhone 4 jail break in 2021?!?! What iOS firmware should I use [question]
I would recommend downgrading to 6.1.3 with pluvia (also has the option to jailbreak with P0sixpwn) ( https://github.com/parrotgeek1/Pluvia ), download the iOS 6.1.3 IPSW from https://ipsw.me/download/iPhone3,1/10B329 (it doesn’t matter that it is not signed as we will be patching it). Open a terminal window and type (without the quotes, and if I put something in brackets [] I mean follow what I say inside there, don’t type the brackets) “./make_ipsw.sh [drag the 6.1.3 IPSW (make sure you have a space before you drag the IPSW)] jailbreak”. After that connect your iPhone to the computer and put it in DFU mode. Then type (again without the quotes and [] means follow what I say, not type this in) “./restore.sh [drag the file called something like iPhone3,1_6.1.3_patched_JB.IPSW to into the terminal window (again make sure you have a space before you drag the file)]” and it should restore. It is normal if your iPhone reboots like 5 times before actually booting.
