  • .NET Runtime

.NET is a cross-platform runtime for cloud, mobile, desktop, and IoT apps.

  • The dotnet team have been running into some issues getting .NET 5 running well, but improvements are coming with new macOS releases.

  • homebrew-emacsmacport

Emacs mac port formulae for the Homebrew package manager

  • I'm successfully running Emacs natively using the Yamamoto fork. It just needs to be installed via the formula on Homebrew currently rather than the cask.

  • InfluxDB

  • HomeBrew

🍺 The missing package manager for macOS (or Linux)

  • There are native builds out now and they work great. The biggest missing piece is certain static analyzers like shellcheck aren't available for ARM yet since ghc is still working on support, although you can probably get it working with Rosetta. See this thread for a list of most tools:

    https://github.com/Homebrew/brew/issues/10152

gccemacs isn't available natively yet and probably won't be until later this year, but Emacs running on M1 is very snappy and faster in my experience than a nativecomp build running on an Intel machine.

NOTE: The number of mentions on this list indicates mentions on common posts plus user suggested alternatives. Hence, a higher number means a more popular project.
