  • Marlin

Marlin is an optimized firmware for RepRap 3D printers based on the Arduino platform. | Many commercial 3D printers come with Marlin installed. Check with your vendor if you need source code for your specific machine. (by just-trey)

  • If you want marlin without switching to a new board then this ( https://github.com/just-trey/Marlin/tree/elegoo-neptune-2/config/Elegoo/Neptune-2) is a good option.

  • What do you mean by "official"? https://github.com/mlee12382/Elegoo-Neptune-Marlin/tree/bugfix-2.1.x/config my 2S firmware is up to date with the most recent marlin and has linear advance enabled with k set to 0 so all you have to do is tune it and set your value. It is built from Trey's but ported to the newest version of Marlin and it has some extra settings enabled like linear advance. If you do go with the skr mini, which is a great board, a couple things you might want to consider, it only has 1 extruder driver instead of the potential for adding a 2nd like the stock Neptune board so if you think you're ever going to want to add a 2nd extruder for multicolor like the 2D it won't work, the other is to get the btt tft35 with the knob on the side cause it's easier to find a case to print for it, the ender 3 replacement generally is used with existing ender 3 screen cases so you may not find a printable screen case for it. BTW the skr mini screen is the same size as the Neptune screen it just adds a rotary knob. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4405355 this might be a good case option for the ender style screen, or this for the other screen https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4098798 you will likely need to compile your own firmware to enable the features you want. Also you will need different cables for the endstops unless you go sensorless homing as the mini uses 2 pin and the neptune uses 3pin. I would make sure you have a bltouch or similar for z as sensorless for z is not recommended.
