  • bypass-paywalls-chrome

Bypass Paywalls web browser extension for Chrome and Firefox.

  • uBlock-issues

This is the community-maintained issue tracker for uBlock Origin

  • Raymond Hill, legendary author of uBlock Origin (and I do mean legendary, he refuses to accept donations out of fear of even appearing to be influenced, and he left his intended retirement from extension development when the guy he gave development of uBlock (non-Origin) to immediately tried to start cashing in on his work), attempted to explain these concerns to Google and was pretty much completely ignored. Given this, he announced earlier this year that he will end support for the Chrome version of uBlock Origin next year when Manifest v3 becomes mandatory, although he did express some interest in eventually trying to build another blocker extension compatible with Manifest v3 at some point just to see how limited it would be versus uBlock Origin. He’s also tried to be balanced, noting that Google has improved declarativeNetRequest slightly over the past year but has also maintained that any limitation on what blocker extensions can do will severely hamper innovation in the field (noting that back in 2013 no blocker used filter priorities, and had declarativeNetRequest been designed at that time it’s likely that a staple of modern filter design, and a major reason uBlock Origin is so performant, would have never been invented).

  • uBlock

uBlock Origin - An efficient blocker for Chromium and Firefox. Fast and lean.

  • Microsoft has stated that they’re going to implement whatever Google does to extensions in Edge, but Mozilla has at least stated that while they intend to support Manifest v3 for compatibility purposes, they have no intentions to remove webRequest at this time. Raymond Hill has also confirmed that he will be refocusing development onto the Firefox version of uBlock Origin, which already supports several advanced features that he was unable to get working in Chrome even before this change was announced.
