I also was very interested in 0x10c. There have been some games that have set out to do something similar (both those that are trying to continue the game and others that are more loosely inspired). A lot of them have died however, I think Trillek might be the only one that still occasionally sees some renewed dev effort every now and then. One reason I think for this is this style of game is a huge undertaking and due to its relatively niche audience it tends to be mostly hobby endeavours.
