Instead, I downloaded fre:ac (https://www.freac.org ) to rip the audio book CDs. After reading a bit, I learned that the Mp3 bitrate of 44 kbps is fine for audiobooks. I used 64 kbps just to be safe. fre:ac also allowed me to changed the rip to mono instead of stereo.
