Parent here: my 7 year old Aspie really wants to build robots and make machines. I don’t know how to do these things (not sure it’s safe at his age)… what’s the best way to support him until he is able to read and research this? He’s so passionate- how can I help?

  • open-source-rover

A build-it-yourself, 6-wheel rover based on the rovers on Mars!

  • So this is probably outside of scope, but I do feel necessary to point out there's a how to build a Mars Rover guide from NASA! It might be fun to read. Or I might just be a nerd.

  • ArduinoCore-avr

    The Official Arduino AVR core

  • A subscription to Make Magazine would be a good starting point, wherever you are. Arduino has some good starter kits that are relatively affordable, and will help your child learn about electronics. Instructables is another great resource - you can look at the category 'Circuits' and the channel 'Robots'. There are step-by-step instructions, as well as lists of the components you'll need to make each project.

  • InfluxDB
