I really wanted to use an SQL-first approach, so I ended up writing cornucopia which reads my SQL queries and generates type-checked Rust code from them (including support for custom types like composites, domains, enums...) For all my own purposes, this gives me gives me all the benefits of an SQL-first approach, replaces SQLx compile-time checking and it's all built on tokio-postgres.
