I've been working for the last 3 years on an in-memory MVCC DB engine in C++, built from scratch. The engine incorporates several innovative design features. It has completely nonblocking transaction open and commit; incremental, concurrent, and nonblocking GC; and direct shared-memory access to data from client processes with zero-copy reads. All critical paths are lock-free and some are wait-free (e.g., transaction validation). Scalability is a work in progress but single-thread update throughput is ~5M TPS. I've also designed and partially implemented a high-level API over this database to expose transactional programming to C++ developers who would never normally use a database: https://senderista.github.io/atomik-website/.

Before starting this project, I worked on a distributed analytical database, supporting multiple scientific users:

A query engine for any combination of data sources. Query your files and APIs as if they were databases!

Hi, I'm u9g. I'm looking for an internship for either this winter (in a few weeks) or a summer internship!

    Some things I've done:

I integrated a [query engine for lints](https://github.com/obi1kenobi/trustfall) (and contributed optimizations) into [OXC](https://github.com/oxc-project/oxc) (a new Rust-based Javascript Linter).

I wrote [several](https://github.com/u9g/money-lens) [toy](https://github.com/u9g/quickquestion/tree/main/extension) languages and syntax highlighting for them.

    I also wrote a [js-to-scheme transpiler](https://github.com/u9g/js2scheme/blob/main/example.js).

Happy to work on things compiler or database oriented, but also happy to learn something new!

  • Fluture

🦋 Fantasy Land compliant (monadic) alternative to Promises

  • My name is Aldwin. I'm back-end-leaning full-stack (web-) developer with over 13 years of full time professional experience at various software development agencies. Besides that, I have years of hobby-programming and open-source experience, with Fluture[1] being my most well-received.

I've been leading small teams for the last eight years, focusing on developer enabling work such as process management, devops, software architecture, and coaching.

I'm very passionately in particular about functional programming, and I'm hoping to coach teams when it comes to the cross-over between functional programming and software architecture - something a lot of developers who are new to FP struggle with.

Although I have been involved in a huge variety of software types, I'm particularly well-experienced when it comes to real-time, offline-first web-applications and real-time data processing.

  • asterisk-voice-control

Technologies: Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, Terraform, Python, Django, Javascript, PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB, Nginx, Linux, apt packaging, iptables, VPNs, TCP congestion control algorithms (more than I ever wanted to know)

    Résumé/CV: https://www.linkedin.com/in/foxmatthew/

    Email: [email protected]

13 years of experience in startup software development and DevOps across web apps, cloud, and Linux networking. Six years of leadership in teams of up to 7 people.

Looking for an engineering manager or senior IC position to mentor your team and make something people want.

Here are a sample of things I've accomplished:

    * I built a platform for hosting web applications using Kubernetes at a major cloud provider and taught engineers to operate and improve it. It uses Helm to manage the instances of the single-tenant app and includes a Python application to manage the customer instances based on configuration from the subscription management vendor.

    * I trained and mentored a team of developers in software patterns, communication, and prioritizing work, and I reduced context switching in the team’s workflows, leading to a 72% increase in velocity in two months.

    * I maintain the community Apt package for Helm, the Kubernetes package manager, which is downloaded more than 200,000 times per month.

    * I improved performance of a proprietary VPN by adopting Cython, permitting use of C functions in Python, resulting in a 2.5x increase in network throughput when limited by CPU

    * I created a system to control calls in Asterisk with AI-trained voice commands ("hey asterisk, dial extension 1") https://github.com/mattfox/asterisk-voice-control

    * In progress- I'm managing a project for getting a B2B SaaS company a SOC 2 Type II report

  • hashtable-benchmarks

An Evaluation of Linear Probing Hashtable Algorithms

I'm most interested in developing high-performance database engines in low-level languages, but open to any challenging systems programming project. I've been working in C++ for the last 3 years, but have written nontrivial projects in Rust and Java as well (e.g., https://github.com/senderista/rotated-array-set, https://github.com/senderista/hashtable-benchmarks). I would enjoy using Rust or Zig on a new project, but I consider the project itself to be much more important than the language it's written in. I am not interested in cryptocurrency, adtech, or fintech projects.
