I'm not familiar with using pixelsorting in processing, but there's a nice Python tool by satyarth that I've used to good effect.
I wrote a pixel sorting library for fun in processing some time ago. That looks like pixels were sorted vertically, but instead of replacing them in the same line, they are placed with sinusoidal shapes. That's an interesting effect. Once I played with pixels with sinusoidal displacement ( Ghost/underwater/wobbling effect cat). I never thought of using it inside some pixel sorting case.
