  • The repository does not currently maintain a rolling set of active owners across time. It could start exposing this info as a function of time, via an API. The point of gem signing is to cut out as many points of possible compromise between gem build and gem install, rubygems.org included. If we need to trade in a verified email (e.g. [email protected]) for a rubygems.org user handle (e.g. https://rubygems.org/profiles/rafaelfranca) along the way, then that chain of trust becomes easier to subvert. Neither identity providers nor sigstore can second the relationship between an email and a rubygems account handle.
