EIP189 is created, proposing a Casper/PoS-based solution for the high inflation problem targeted in EIP186.
If you compare this to total miner reward which according to https://watchtheburn.com is about 2 mill ETH since EIP-1559, we see miners already holding about half their rewards. So, not only did EIP-1559 decrease supply, it also ignited miners holding their ETH getting ready for POS (I assume). Also, as of now this implies the merge won't be as big of a supply squeeze as many assume, but a lot can change until the merge obviously.
