Is it possible to override the system Wine installation with a custom one?

  My custom build of wine, made to use with lutris. Built with lutris's buildbot.

Basically, I would like to replace the system Wine installation with wine-ge-custom which provides binary releases, to be able to have the benefits of the system Wine environment.

There's wine-tkg in https://github.com/fufexan/nix-gaming. Using the same derivation for that, one could build GE from source the same way.

Any reason you can't use Lutris and let it manage your wine versions for you? Any game that requires wine-ge-custom will automatically get it if you install it via Lutris, and it doesn't require changing the system wine. It's in the Nix repo.
