Sounds to me like it might be a steam client for linux issue rather than proton.
This feature is present on Gamehub and it's freaking amazing for games with a lot of mods: you can create a "base layer" for the vanilla game and then just layer the mods on top. Brilliant!

- I could not run immortal fenyx rising on steam deck. It freeze at this screen and sometimes the other black screen (attached Pic). i tried all proton including experimental and hotfix. I did disable Uconnect overlay in desktop mode. Can't go into main menu where u select new game etc. Need help pls
