One workaround is using Kodi with the Netflix addon and setting "adjust display refresh rate" on in Kodin settings.
For Amazon, there is also an addon with the same benefits, but I've found that this addon is not nearly up to the level of the Netflix addon. It is very slow to navigate the menus and using the search. Playback is perfect though.
