This page summarizes the projects mentioned and recommended in the original post on /r/archlinux

Our great sponsors
  • WorkOS - The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS
  • InfluxDB - Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale
  • SaaSHub - Software Alternatives and Reviews
  • wlroots

Discontinued A modular Wayland compositor library

  • gammastep

  • WLR Gamma Control was added to the protocol last year; I have no idea how mature you need this to be but at the very least things like gammastep exist.

  • WorkOS

The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS. The APIs are flexible and easy-to-use, supporting authentication, user identity, and complex enterprise features like SSO and SCIM provisioning.

  • steam-for-linux

Issue tracking for the Steam for Linux beta client

  • Valve isn't responding to the native wayland support request at the moment.

  • sway

    i3-compatible Wayland compositor

  • It seems technically possible for a Wayland compositor to implement these things, but at least for Sway there are no plans to (see sway#3380). And unlike with Xorg, you can't use a separate tool to add these effects to a compositor that doesn't already support them.

  • wayfire

A modular and extensible wayland compositor

  • For a compositor that does have some crazy effects, check out wayfire.

  • sway-borders

Fork of sway with some extra features, mainly related to borders.

  • kinda, but you can try forks like sway-borders (never used, not sure how it is)
