I'm working on a custom repository where I intend to write ebuild files for packages that's not supported by Gentoo's repository. Right now, I'm trying to write an ebuild file for xplr, which is a Rust project that uses the Cargo build system. Initially, I used the cargo-ebuild tool, which generated the file xplr-0.14.3.ebuild.

Trying to emerge it again won't lead to the previous error, instead it would result in another one with the message make: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc: No such file or directory. Apparently it occurs when compiling mlua, which seems to require the use of a C compiler. The full log message is available here and the emerge info is available here.
