physical optics: integrated modeling, phase retrieval, segmented systems, polynomials and fitting, sequential raytracing... (by brandondube)

  • I do diffraction for a living. I wrote the fastest diffraction program in the world by a not subtle margin. At my day job, our instrument has two key halves which have equivalent sized diffraction models. My model is written with my code, and the other another engineer's. My model is 900,000x faster than the other one and has matched hardware experiments to the order of about ten picometers (which is to say, both fast and very accurate).
