What I actually use and would recomend is Duplicacy, (not to be confused with Duplicati or Duplicity, they're completely unrelated). It does pretty much what duplicati aims to do but without the problematic and slow database.
I have never used it but you could check this ps script.
I use healthchecks.io to be allerted of silent failures.
